The Maritime Provinces - Day 1
TRAVEL DAY ...
Allyn and I are doing something new ... taking a trip with a tour group! We are going with Caravan Tours to the Maritime Provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edwards Island, and New Brunswick. My parents, Bob and Sharon Jensen, are on the tour with us!
Today was a travel day as we took the "red-eye" from Los Angeles International Airport at 11:23 pm Wednesday night. After a long flight, with very little seep, we landed in Newark, New Jersey where we had a short layover. We then boarded a much smaller plane, for a much shorter flight to Halifax, Canada!
We and our luggage made it!!! We checked into our hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Halifax Airport Hotel and took some much needed naps before doing anything else. After a bit of rest we began to think about how hungry we were ... no food on either of the flights! The nearest place to eat was the hotel's Great North American Grill Restaurant. The food was delicious!!!
At 8:00 pm we had a "welcome briefing" meeting where we met our tour guide, introduced ourselves to the rest of the tour group, and received instructions for the following morning. We learned that our luggage had to be outside our hotel door at 7:00 am (3:00 am our time!!!) and we needed to be on the "motor coach" (large bus) at 8:00 am (4:00 am our time!!!) Yikes!!! Unfortunately jet lag will probably prevent us from getting to bed at a decent time! Hopefully we will be able to sleep on the bus tomorrow!

Allyn had the lamb shank with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. |
I had the fresh salmon with maple cream sauce, batsami rice, and grilled vegetables. |
And we shared the "death by chocolate" cake for dessert ... YUMMY! |
